have you started to promote your business online using keywords? if so, do you know all you need to about researching so-called key words? if the answer is no to either of these questions then you've got some serious homework to do!

any business of any size is certainly missing a beat if they are not using online marketing opportunities to the full.

any small business is particularly losing out - because using online marketing properly can actually allow you to compete with much bigger companies.

but if you are asking what is this about keywords? then here are some broad brsuh stroke tips and thoughts:

keywords are the means whereby the search engines determine the relevance of websites, web pages and advertising matter -- such as the pay-per-click advertsing that is almost ubiquitous across the web these days, and that certainly emblazons almost ever page of organic search results from google and other major search providers, such as yahoo! and msn (now bing).

whenever someone uses a search engine to find information on the internet -- and that is many billions of times a day!! -- then the words they use to search for thing are 'keywords'.

keywords may indeed be a single word, but more often are actually short phrases. just think about how you, yourself, have used search engines and what you have typed in to find the things you are trying to locate.

there are numerous tools on the market that constantly collect reams of data abour these key words as it can be valuable information to know.

one of the top tools for finding out more about keywords is the lately much improved key word research tool from google itself. (https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal) but like all such tools it takes a bit of getting used to, to unlock the best keyword ideas!

yet there are other tools -- some costing quite a lot on a monthly basis -- that some people think quite highly of. one such example would be wordtracker (http://www.wordtracker.com/) -- which also offers a feature-limited, but useful, free version, and an even more useful free variant called Gtrends (that grew out of the 'famous' thirty day challenge), you can play with these to see what they generate. the paid version incurs a monthly fee but many online marketers swear by it.

but one of our favorite keyword generating tools that utilizes the power of google's own resource but adds on many bells and whistles is market samurai -- (http://www.marketsamurai.com/) -- which is a brilliant tool for its low one-off cost.

yet another amazing tool that often has its doors closed for the paying community to benefit more is hexatrack -- (www.hexatrack.com) which can monitor competing adverts and analyze the successfullness of ads run by those who offer similar products and services to yourself. this could be a great boon - if you can get in.

yet other keyword related research tools include 'spying' facilities that can list the keywords used by your competitors, in their own internet efforts, allowing you to use the same words or include their keyword ideas in your own wensite and web marketing optimization plans this potentially allows you to 'steal' their traffic - if you do things right! such tools inslude the popular 'keyword spy' amongt others.

but why might you want to generate lists of key words and how will this help you in your maketing efforts for your own business? well we'll elucidate in the coming post - as well as add some useful links where you can check out the tools we talk about.

for now - you could at least check one of the latest and most versatile resources that can help anyone trying to build their online markleting fast, furiously and effectively (just click the image):
